ROSEMARY MOORE
TEXTILE DESIGNER
Rosemary Moore invented the revolutionary MAXXAM® crinkle fabric - patented in 1983. It's been in production ever since and continues to be one of the most unique fabrics ever created.
WHAT IS THE MAXXAM CRINKLE FABRIC?
The brain child of Rosemary Moore, graduate of the Royal College of Art. A nylon and elastane fabric composition that's so adaptable that if made into a swimsuit, it can fit 7 sizes in one.
In the late 80s, MAXXAM took the fashion world by storm as it was the era of body-conscious clothing.
It's a multipurpose fabric that can be used for swimwear, daily wear and activewear, made in a variety of fibre compositions.
It's finished tubular to produce a seamless fabric that supports the body with maximum comfort.
In 2014 MAXXAM made a come back into the limelight, however it has been in production for nearly 40 years. It’s now worn by the new generation or children of the mothers who wore it in the 80s....
Julia Roberts can be remembered wearing it in Pretty Woman. Nowadays, it's celebrities like the Kardashian family and Lady Gaga who can be seen on Instagram popularising it.
MAXXAM has gained its recognition as a mainstream cloth in the field of stretch textiles
and its aim is to be100.% Bio based by 2026.
It’s now Oeko-Tex 100 certified in both its recycled nylon and standard nylon qualities.
